A heartwarming initiative is set to unfold this Friday, August 18th at RNK Running and Walking store at 6pm in the heart of downtown Castle Rock. RUN to Change Lives (RTCL), a local not for profit organization dedicated to making a difference through running events, is teaming up with Rik Zortman, a devoted RTCL Ambassador from Iowa, to create a lasting tribute to Reece Rubino, a remarkable local teenager with spinal muscular atrophy.
Reece Rubino, an inspiring senior high school student battling spinal muscular atrophy, has captured the hearts of the community with his resilience and determination. In collaboration with RUN to Change Lives, his story and journey have gained prominence, touching the lives of many who have had the privilege of knowing him. For those who are unfamiliar with Reece’s incredible story, more information is available at https://runtochangelives.org/reecesroundup/.
Rik Zortman, an RTCL Ambassador who tragically lost his own son Armstrong to child cancer, has embarked on a unique mission to honor children facing disabilities and illnesses. As part of his profound healing process, Rik designs running routes that intricately sketch the names of these remarkable kids, spreading awareness and fostering a sense of unity. This Friday at 6pm, Rik Zortman will etch Reece’s name into the streets of downtown Castle Rock, creating a moving tribute that echoes the strength of Reece’s spirit and the unwavering support of the community.
This initiative is more than just a running route; it symbolizes the power of solidarity, the strength of community, and the ability to make a profound impact on lives. RUN to Change Lives invites the media and the local community to join in this extraordinary event, witness the sketching of Reece’s name, and celebrate the unwavering courage of Reece Rubino and all those who face challenges head-on.
“We are immensely honored to be a part of this heartwarming initiative that celebrates Reece’s indomitable spirit,” said Jason Anguiano, Founder of RUN to Change Lives. “We invite everyone to come and be a part of this incredible moment, to show their support for Reece and raise awareness for spinal muscular atrophy.”
Gina Anguiano, Co-founder of RUN to Change Lives, shared her thoughts as well: “Our mission has always been to create a positive impact through running events, and Reece’s story resonates deeply with us. His strength inspires us all, and by coming together with Rik Zortman to sketch his name through a running route, we hope to spread Reece’s message of resilience and unity even further.”
