“Scavenge The Rock” is back. What better way to learn about Castle Rock’s history than to explore Downtown Castle Rock with a scavenger hunt? Pick up the clue sheets at the Castle Rock Museum starting May 1st. Go around town to complete the tasks on the sheet. Return the sheet to the Castle Rock Museum to receive a gift and you can be entered into a drawing to win tickets to the Summer Concert Series, Golf Certificates and much more. You have the whole month of May to complete the hunt. Bring your family, friends, co-workers or do it on your own. It’s a fun and easy way to learn some history, get to know Castle Rock better and win some prizes.

Castle Rock Band Free Memorial Weekend Concert @ Festival Park

The Castle Rock Band and American Legion Post #1187 are back for their traditional Memorial Weekend concert on Saturday, May 25th, 2:00 pm at Festival Park in Castle Rock. The performance of patriotic music, an annual tradition, will feature a flag ceremony by the American Legion. The band’s musical selections include John Williams’ “Hymn to the Fallen” from “Saving Private Ryan,” and “Armed Forces Salute,” a medley of songs arranged by Bob Lowden representing the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.

All Castle Rock Band concerts are presented free of charge as a service to the community. The public is invited to the event, which will be held in beautiful Festival Park on Perry Street at Second Street. Convenient parking is available in the adjoining Town Hall lot south of the park. Audience members are encouraged to bring folding chairs and sun protection.

This is the first concert of the Castle Rock Band’s outdoor summer concert series. After the Memorial Weekend Concert, the band’s next performance will be an evening Independence Concert on Saturday, June 29, 7:00 pm in Festival Park.

The Castle Rock Band is made up of volunteer musicians from Douglas County and the surrounding area. Members range from high school age to senior citizens. Ray Harrington is an infectiously charming comedian who performs across the globe with hilariously irreverent material and marvelous improvisational riffing that embraces the uncomfortable and the absurd with a smile. He’s been seen on Conan, and his documentary BE A MAN won the LA Comedy Festival before premiering exclusively on Hulu. His first album from Stand Up! Records, The Worst Is Over, debuted at the top of the comedy charts on Amazon and iTunes. His latest album, Overwhelmed, debuted at Number 1 on Amazon and at the top of the Billboard Comedy Charts.

Ray has been seen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his show, Immaterial. Ray was named Best Comedian by the Providence Phoenix, was a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival, and was invited to host the International Filmapalooza Awards in Hollywood. He was awarded Best Documentary at the LA Comedy Festival as well as the SNOB Film Festival, and premiered his film BE A MAN at the New York Comedy Festival. His web series, Undependent, won Best Comedy at the NYC Web Festival, and won Best Actor for Undependent at the London Web Festival.

Ray has been heard on nationally syndicated radio along with Sirius/XM and he’s been seen on Conan, Hulu, ABC, FOX, TBS, and SBS Australia.
