Summer Concert Series: Cooper Alan with special guest Clay Page @ Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park

Gates open at 6 p.m. | Opener 7 p.m. | Headliner 8:30 p.m.

A rising star with the spirit of a true entertainer, a penchant for outside-the-box thinking and a growing, self-built audience, Cooper Alan is an artist willing to take country music where others have never dreamed  — and fans love him for it. Whether it’s a deeply personal, step-by-step romantic saga, or an off-the-wall party anthem, Alan’s music is already some of country’s most fearless work, and he’s just getting started.

A native of Winston-Salem, NC, the independent artist has racked up more than 225 million streams, a massive digital presence with more than 14 million followers across all social media platforms, and a touring footprint that sold over 85,000 tickets to date. It all stems from an ability to meet fans where they are  — a creative renegade freely mixing musical styles, with boundless energy, sharp writing and often, a sense of humor. But don’t be mistaken, there’s nothing gimmicky about it.

After releasing “Take Forever,” a five-song EP telling the real-life story behind his wedding in fall 2023, Alan launched his spring 2024 Tour, kicking off on Feb. 1, hitting markets across the United States and making his debut in Australia. Recently named as a 2024 Pandora Ten Artists To Watch and named to the Sirius XM and Pandora 2024 Future Five List, Alan hit the ground running with single “Take Forever” climbing to number one on Sirius XM The Highway’s Hot 30 Weekend Countdown.

The 40th Annual Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair @ Douglas County Fairgrounds

The 40th Annual Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair at the Douglas County Fairgrounds August 17th and 18th. Come visit the largest regional antiquarian book and paper fair in the Mountain time zone!

The Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair attracts booksellers from around the country to bring their stock of books, posters, letters, photographs, scrapbooks and other fascinating and one of a kind items. The result is an immense bookstore with things visitors have never seen before and likely will never see again. For collector and browser alike, it’s a special experience.

“If you’ve never been to a book fair, imagine finding 60 used bookstores under one roof, offering books, collectible paper and ephemera for all tastes and all budgets. People who have never been to a bookfair are astounded by what they see. People who have been to one before can’t wait to go again,” said book fair coordinator Carol Mobley.

New this year is a special area featuring local and regional authors who will be on hand to visit with fair-goers and talk about their books!

The fair is open Saturday, August 17 from 1pm to 7 pm and Sunday, August 18, from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission of $7 is good for both days. The Douglas County Fairgrounds is at 500 Fairgrounds Rd., Castle Rock. CO.
