Should a new disc golf course tee up in Castle Rock? That’s the question the Town’s Parks and Recreation Department wants residents to answer when they provide feedback on a proposed new 18-hole disc golf course at East Plum Creek Open Space.
The disc golf course would be located on either side of Hangman’s Gulch Trail and east of East Plum Creek Trail. Users would gain access from a planned trailhead parking area at the Parks and Facilities Maintenance and Operations building at the end of Caprice Drive. The course would be about .35 miles from the parking area.
Throw Colorado, a local disc golf organization, has agreed to assist with technical design and construction. Once complete, the organization would assist with maintenance and use the course for tournaments and special events.
The proposed course would include disc golf baskets for 18 holes with pin placements and two tee pads per hole to accommodate different abilities. A synthetic-turf throwing surface, tee signs, trash cans and benches would also be included in the project.
Crews are hoping to start construction this fall. Work is expected to be complete in late spring or early summer 2022.
Tell us what you think. Before the Town moves forward with the project, it’s looking for input from residents. Complete a feedback form online at CRgov.com/DiscGolf before Thursday, Sept. 30. More information and a proposed course map are also available on the website.
This would be the Town’s second disc golf course. There’s also an 18-hole course at Matney Park, 5790 Lantern Circle.
