The numbers, facts, research and databases help tell the story Castle Rock residents live every day: Castle Rock is a great place to be.
In fact, it’s one of the best small communities in the country, according to a new ranking.
Even though our Town is growing, it is still considered small by many analysts. Those at personal finance outlet WalletHub recently studied data for 1,268 cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 to determine the Best Small Cities in America.
Nationally, Castle Rock came in at No. 20. In Colorado, Castle Rock was the state’s third best small city, behind Littleton and Parker. View entire list.
To determine the rankings, WalletHub evaluated 30 key data points ranging from housing costs, to school system quality, to the number of restaurants and coffee shops per capita. Those metrics were grouped into five categories: affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety.
Analysts evaluated each category based on 30 relevant metrics. Each was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the most favorable conditions for small-city residents. They then calculated the overall scores, based on weighted averages.
Castle Rock often lands at the top of similar rankings. Money Magazine listed Castle Rock as a Best Place to Live in 2011, 2012 and 2014. The Town has also ranked as safe city and a best place for young families.
