Castle Rock is a haven for the outdoor enthusiast.  Hiking and biking trails have been expertly planned throughout the community and along natural preserves, complete with picnicking and bird watching areas.  400 acres of state parks, canyons, buttes and other natural outcroppings are favorite destinations for climbing and exploring.

Amphitheater

Located at PS Miller Park, features both local and national talent in an intimate outdoor setting. The Amphitheater is home to concerts, shows, graduations, church services, weddings, outdoor education programs and other events year-round.

PS Miller Challenge Hill

The 7.4 mile native-surface trail network consists of single-track trails divided into four different, but interconnected, loops with 1.2 miles of paved accessible segments in the active park area near the Miller Activity Complex, the MAC.  The trails explore all the valleys, knolls and high points of this 270-acre site.  A unique feature on the site is the Challenge Hill, will 200 timber steps that climb 178 feet in elevation, similar to the Manitou Springs Incline. Bikes are not recommended on the challenge hill.

Castlewood Canyon

Castlewood Canyon State Park near Castle Rock CO

Nature lovers and groups enjoy environmental diversity on several hiking trails ranging from mild to moderate. The trails range from .5 to 4 miles and can be combined for longer journeys. The winding Cherry Creek flowing along the canyon floor provides wonderful rest stops. Pets, on a leash, are welcome on most trails, except the new East Canyon Preservation Area trail.

The Town boasts: 5,475 acres of open space; about 265 acres dedicated to our developed parks; and 51 miles of soft-surface and paved trails, with more than 50 additional miles of trails planned.
