Douglas County ranks first out of Colorado’s 64 counties for overall health behavior, according to a recent report issued by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The study took into account health factors and outcomes, measuring access to recreational facilities and open space; access to and quality of health care; use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs; obesity rates; air and water quality; and more, using weighted scores for 30 health and demographic factors, including specific health behaviors; clinical care; social and economic factors; as well as the surrounding physical environment.
Douglas County ranked in the top five in four of six categories, also ranking first in social and economic factors. For more information on the study and to see the complete rankings, please visit www.countyhealthrankings.org.
