Rueter-Hess Reservoir, built in 2012 for regional drinking water storage, is located on Hess Road, one mile east of Interstate 25 at the Castle Pines Parkway exit, just minutes from Castle Rock. The Rueter-Hess Recreation Authority, composed of representatives from the Town of Castle Rock, Town of Parker, City of Lone Tree, City of Castle Pines, Douglas County and the Parker Water and Sanitation District, oversees and plans recreational access, which is managed by Douglas County.
All watercraft will be inspected on-site for invasive species before entering the water. No swimming is allowed. Dogs must be leashed at all times and are allowed on trails only; they are not allowed on or near the water or shoreline. Visit Douglas.co.us/Rueter-Hess-Recreation to learn more about allowed activities and view complete rules and regulations in place to ensure water quality is maintained.
