Whether you’re looking for a good scare or some seasonal family fun, Castle Rock has a few tricks up its sleeve this Halloween. Here’s a peek at some of the spooky fun planned at several locations this month.
Castle of Terror: “Prison Break”
The frightful season comes to life at Castle Rock Fire and Rescue’s annual Castle of Terror. The scream-worthy haunted house will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13; Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19 and 20; and Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27, at the Fire Training Tower, 303 Malibu St. Does it get any scarier than a burned out training center? In fact, this haunted house is so scary, children under 12 are not admitted without an adult.
Tickets are $10 at the door, and all proceeds will go to the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue and Castle Rock Police Explorer programs.

Creepy Crawlies around the Rock
Get in the creepy spirit with Nature’s Educators and celebrate the creatures of the season. Don’t miss live Halloween-themed characters such as snakes, spiders, toads, owls and hissing cockroaches from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at Festival Park.

Spooktacular
For younger goblins, the Spooktacular festival will offer activities such as face painting, bouncy houses, crafts, games and of course, candy. This family friendly Halloween fun will take place Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Miller Activity Complex at Philip S. Miller Park.
Because of the popularity of this event, families are asked to attend according to the following schedule:
• noon-1 p.m. sensory-friendly activities
• 1-2 p.m. last names starting with letters A-L
• 2-3 p.m. last names starting with letters M-Z

Fangtastic Festival
Downtown Castle Rock will be hosting the Fangtastic Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Participate in bouncy houses, carnival games, hay rides and more at Festival Park before heading out for the big night.
Wicked Wednesday
Then, bring your little princess or superhero over to the Outlets at Castle Rock for Wicked Wednesday. Enjoy face painting, a spooky magic show, costume contest spooky scavenger hunt and trick-or-treating around the center from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.
