Douglas’ 2016 Budget, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, and Popular Annual Financial Report recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association
For the third time in the past year, Douglas County has been recognized nationally for its continued commitment to fiscal accountability and transparency.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recognized Douglas County for its 2015 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR); its 2015 Comprehensive Annual Report (CAFR); and its 2016 Budget, all available in the financial reporting section of the Douglas County website.
“The management of public money is among the most important responsibilities of county government,” said Douglas County Commissioner and Board Chair David Weaver.
“Government agencies and other recipients of public money are fiscally accountable to taxpayers and must demonstrate compliance with the intended uses of these resources. We are honored that our efforts have been recognized nationally,” Weaver said.
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the County’s 2016 Budget reflects the commitment of the Board of County Commissioners and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the County’s CAFR reflects the County’s achievement in demonstrating a constructive “spirit of disclosure” to clearly communicate its fiscal condition and is the highest governmental accounting and financial reporting recognition given by the GFOA.
The Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the County’s PAFR recognizes standards of creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal in the report, thus making it easily understandable to citizens, taxpayers and other interested parties.
