Kneaders Bakery to be joined by Cafe Rio, Smashburger, Waxing the City and more in $177 million Castle Rock development
The first new tenant in the $177 million Promenade at Castle Rock retail development has opened its doors and nearly a dozen more will follow by year’s end or early next year, developers said this week.
Kneaders Bakery & Cafe, a Utah-based fast casual chain, officially opened last month at 826 New Memphis Court, according to a project spokeswoman. Eleven more retailers will open in the coming months near the interchange of Interstate 25 and Meadows Parkway:
• Tokyo Joe’s
• Cafe Rio
• Mad Greens
• Mod Pizza
• Smashburger
• Jersey Mike’s Subs
• AT&T
• Bar Nails & Spa
• Elements Massage
• The Joint
• Waxing the City
Greenwood Village-based Alberta Development Partners and Forum Real Estate Group of Denverbroke ground on the Promenade in November 2014. Adjacent to the Outlets at Castle Rock, the 200-acre, 1-million-square-foot retail development is the largest master-planned project ever constructed in the city.
Residents collected enough signatures to force the Town Council to rescind its approval of the project or send the matter to voters but withdrew the petitions .
At the time, Alberta Development said a deal struck with opponents called for the developers to work with a nonprofit wildlife advocacy group to relocate the colony and create a prairie dog ecosystem and conservation program.
The Promenade’s next round of openings will occur by the third quarter of 2016, according to developers. Tenants opening near the new I-25 interchange under construction north of the Meadows/Founders exit will include Sports Authority, TJ Maxx/Homegoods, Ulta and Berry Blendz.
“With the population of Castle Rock continuing to grow, there couldn’t be a better time to open Promenade at Castle Rock,” Alberta principal Don Provost said in a statement.
