It’s where memories are made and where treasured events are often held. And, the word is getting out. Festival Park has once again been recognized by more than just the Castle Rock community. The park was awarded the 2019 Columbine Award for Renovated Park Design from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association.
The Columbine Award is designed to highlight best practices and creative ideas in regard to design, innovation and programming. The Festival Park redesign was recognized as a key catalyst project to infuse vitality into Downtown. The park was also recognized for its quality of design and materials that have helped set a higher standard for new construction in the Downtown area.
“We are honored to have had the opportunity to partner with the Downtown Development Authority to create a wonderful space for the community to gather, play and explore,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Brauer. “The park has truly become the heartbeat of the entire Downtown area.”
The Columbine Award is one of several awards Festival Park has earned for its innovative design. Other awards include: 2019 Colorado Lottery Starburst Award, 2019 Denver Regional Council of Governments Metro Vision Award, 2019 Best Project Award from ENR Mountain States and the American Society of Landscape Architects’ 2018 Merit Award for Design.
