In 2019, Douglas County was ranked No. 1 healthiest community in the second-annual U.S. News ranking. For this study, counties were evaluated on 10 categories that shape the core of a community’s well-being, from traditional heath indicators like cancer and obesity, to social determinants such as crime rate, housing quality and the share of population living in poverty.
While Douglas County was ranked first, seven Colorado communities were listed among America’s top 25 Healthiest Communities.
