Save gas, get healthy and win prizes; annual Bike to Work Day gets in gear June 27

The Town will host a free breakfast for cyclists, walkers, and runners from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at Festival Park, 300 Second St. Plus, enjoy giveaways and a chance to win prizes from a variety of event sponsors.

To participate, just bike, carpool, walk or rollerblade to work. Registration is not required, but those who do will be entered into a drawing for additional prizes from the Denver Regional Council of Governments. (Participants do not have to preregister for a chance to win local prizes.) Registration is online at biketoworkday.us.

This year, local prizes will include:

Bike to Work Day, which began in 1956, is an annual event that takes place across the U.S. each spring to raise awareness of alternate ways of getting where you’re going. Sponsored by the Denver Regional Council of Governments, the goal is to promote bicycling as a commuting choice in hopes that workers will try it and form a habit of riding to work.
